Children at St Mary’s are using the internet regularly in school to enhance their learning, and teaching about behaving responsibly online is part of the school’s curriculum.

In school we use a filtering system to prevent children accessing inappropriate sites, and talk to the children regularly about what they should do if they come across something that makes them worried or upset.

Use computers or digital device in a shared areaTalk to your child about what they are doing online
Most social media apps have a minimum age limit of 13. Pupils in primary school should not have access to these apps on their phones or tablets. Gaming – gamin can be fun but all consuming. Set time limits and pay attention to the age ratings of games.
Instant messaging or text messaging is a fast, fun way to speak to friends, make sure that children only speak to people they already know and what to do if someone they DO NOT know messages them. Cyberbullying – Remember that bullying can happen online,. Make sure your child knows what to do if they are being bullied or are upset by something said to them online.
